Swedish developer Angry Demon Studio is about to unleash a quirky, adrenaline-fueled action-adventure game that defies expectations. Titled “Gori: Cuddly Carnage,” this upcoming title combines elements of hack-and-slash combat with the exhilarating movement reminiscent of “Tony Hawk”-style skateboarding. What’s even more intriguing? It’s all centered around an anthropomorphic cat named Gori.

The Unusual Protagonist

Gori may not be your typical hero, but he’s undeniably entertaining. Instead of speaking, he meows, yet he dons stylish clothes and rides a talking hoverboard named FRANK. Picture this: a feline shredding through enemies while grinding on rails, leaping across chasms, and pulling off spectacular tricks like a feline Tony Hawk. The hoverboard, once a mere mode of transportation, transforms into a roaring chainsaw of death when faced with Cool-Toyz Inc.’s minions. Blades whip out from its sides, allowing Gori to slash through undead unicorns and other foes.

Gameplay Dynamics

The gameplay strikes a balance between hack-and-slash combat and skateboarding finesse. Players can chain together combos, finishing off weakened enemies with powerful moves. Unlike the unforgiving concrete landings in “Tony Hawk,” Gori’s skateboarding serves as a means of dodging enemy fire, comboing, and maintaining a refreshing zippiness. Angry Demon Studio introduces traversal moves like boosting and dashing, essential for speeding past enemies or avoiding laser walls. As adversaries grow stronger, Gori adapts, wielding a heavy mace-type weapon to take down shielded foes and bosses. His arsenal even includes a shield for blocking enemy fire.

Addictive Loop

Boost fuel powers Gori’s powerful attacks, encouraging players to perform tricks, gather fuel from the environment, and execute feats. This loop of combat and traversal feels reminiscent of the underrated 2014 Insomniac title, “Sunset Overdrive.”

“Gori: Cuddly Carnage” may have a Suda51 aesthetic, but its Swedish origins and unique blend of elements make it a promising addition to the gaming landscape. Keep an eye out for its launch on PC, where mutated unicorns and creepy toys await their doom!
