The Honor of Huawei – Honor 5C

Huawei is a Chinese telecommunication giant and the third largest smartphone manufacturer in the world. It has always provided good technology at reasonable costs. It has come up with a smartphone to suit everyone’s budget which lays competition to other budget mobiles like Xiaomi Redmi note 3, LeEco Le 2, Moto G4, etc. We’ll find if it’s worth a shot in our review.

Honor 5C

Honor 5C Looks

Honor 5C looks great. The brushed metallic finish of the mobile give it a classy feeling. It has no physical buttons,At 5.2 inches, the mobile fits perfectly in your hand. The fingerprint sensor is positioned beneath the camera and is square in shape. It is highly responsive and Huawei provides you with a variety of fingerprint functions. It has got a 13 megapixel back shooter and a 8 megapixel front shooter. The camera bulge at the back means that the phone rests on it when kept flat on a table.

Honor 5C Display

The mobile has got a 5.2 inch full-HD(1080×1920)display. The pixel density stands at a whopping 423 ppi, which is one of the highest in this segment. Sunlight legibility, though, is not as expected. The only other phone with more pixel density in this segment is the One Plus X with 441 ppi.

Honor 5C Specifications

The mobile runs on Huawei’s indigenous Kirin 650 processor. The 16 nm processor delivers a lot of power. It comes with Android Marshmallow(v6.0) out of the box. Huawei has provided the phone with a new custom UI. The EMOTION UI(v4.1) is pretty cool. Huawei provides you wit an internal storage of 16 GB.The storage can be expanded upto 128 GB through an external SD card. It has got proximity sensor, gyroscope, accelerator, etc. But the magnetometer is missing. This would mean lesser accuracy at turnings during GPS navigation.

Honor 5C Processor

The processor has wooed me to a separate paragraph. The mobile runs on Huawei’s indigenous Kirin 650 processor. The 16 nm processor is manufactured based on the revolutionary Fin FET technology is just awesome.  Though the mobile has got only 2 gigs of RAM the processor makes up more than enough for that. It does multitasking quite well but the lack of a 3 GB ram shows its effect at places as apps reload at times. The processor doesn’t heat up at all with normal use and light gaming. It does, though, heat up after heavy gaming. Huawei claims that this new processor boosts the performance of the mobile by upto 65%. This also reduces the battery consumption of the mobile and increases the efficiency by upto 40%.

Honor 5C Camera

The camera performance is pretty decent for this range. It has got a 13 MP back camera with a f/2.0 aperture. The front camera is an 8 MP shooter and does its work just about perfectly. The Lenovo Zuk Z1 though has a better camera and also has optical image stabilization(OIS). The selfies are clear, though low light selfies aren’t as good.

Well,to sum up,this is pretty much a great phone from the price point of view but it has got its ups and downs. The dual antenna has reduced call dropping to near zero but the absence of magnetometer is a problem for GPS navigators. This is a good phone and I personally like it very much. It is ergonomic to hold in hand and the brushed metallic finish comes as an icing on the cake.

This phone would set you back Rs.10999. I would consider this phone a good option for those who need good performance at a reasonable rate. Huawei has once again proved itself.
